President's Message - November 2026 Newsletter
Dear GADA Family,
November reminds us of Thanksgiving and the importance of gratitude. Life is not always easy, and some seasons bring challenges that test our patience, commitment, and leadership. Yet, even during difficult times, gratitude gives us the strength to keep moving forward. Sometimes, the smallest gestures—a word of encouragement, a helping hand, or a simple thank-you—make the greatest difference.
As athletic administrators, we have so much to be thankful for. Our profession demands long hours, countless sacrifices, and an unwavering commitment to student-athletes, coaches, and school communities. While our work may sometimes feel thankless, we must remember that the impact we make extends far beyond the scoreboard.
I still get excited walking into a stadium or gymnasium and witnessing the energy, passion, and excitement of high school athletics. However, after years of serving in this profession, I have developed an even greater appreciation for the countless individuals working behind the scenes to make these experiences possible. Each event represents an opportunity to build character, develop leadership, and create lasting memories for our student-athletes.
During this season of Thanksgiving, I challenge each of you to reach out to a colleague, mentor, coach, or fellow athletic administrator who has made a difference in your journey. Express your appreciation and remind them that their efforts matter. Gratitude is not simply something we feel; it is something we should demonstrate through our words and actions.
BROYLES FOUNDATION FOR ALZHEIMER’S – $100,000 GOAL
As we continue our GADA/NIAAA partnership supporting the Broyles Foundation for Alzheimer’s, I want to thank everyone who has already contributed to this important cause.
This year, Georgia has set an ambitious fundraising goal of $100,000, and we are challenging at least 100% of our schools across the state to participate. With our campaign concluding on November 16, now is the time for one final push!
This initiative is about more than raising money. It is about making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. As athletic administrators, we understand the power of teamwork, and this is our opportunity to demonstrate that same spirit of unity and compassion beyond athletics.
I encourage every school that has not participated to get involved. Whether through a school fundraiser, community partnership, or individual donation, every contribution matters.
Our goal is $100,000, but the impact we can make is priceless!
Let’s finish this campaign strong and show what Georgia athletic administrators can accomplish when we are ALL IN for a cause greater than ourselves.
NIAAA NATIONAL CONFERENCE – PHOENIX, ARIZONA
As we look ahead to the upcoming NIAAA National Athletic Directors Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, I encourage all Georgia athletic administrators to make plans to attend.
The national conference provides an outstanding opportunity for professional development, networking, leadership training, and collaboration with athletic administrators from across the country. It is also an opportunity to strengthen our profession by sharing ideas, learning best practices, and bringing innovative strategies back to our schools and districts.
Professional growth is an investment in ourselves and, more importantly, in the student-athletes and coaches we serve. Regardless of how long we have been in this profession, there is always something new to learn and someone new to learn from.
I am looking forward to seeing Georgia well represented in Phoenix. Let’s continue to demonstrate why Georgia is among the leaders in education-based athletics.
Georgia, let’s SHOW UP and SHOW OUT in Phoenix!
CLOSING THOUGHTS – LEADING WITH GRATITUDE
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, I encourage each of you to reflect on your blessings, appreciate the people who support you, and take pride in the difference you make each day.
Our theme, ALL IN, is more than a slogan. It is a commitment to Accountability, Love, Leadership, Integrity, and Nobility. These values should guide how we lead, how we serve, and how we treat others.
Thank you for your dedication to educational-based athletics and for the sacrifices you make to provide meaningful opportunities for our student-athletes. Your leadership matters, your service is appreciated, and your commitment continues to strengthen athletics across Georgia.
On behalf of the Georgia Athletic Directors Association, I wish you and your families a safe, restful, and blessed Thanksgiving.
Remember, leadership is not about the recognition we receive, but the difference we make in the lives of others.
Let’s continue to lead with purpose, serve with gratitude, and remain ALL IN!
Happy Thanksgiving!
ALL IN FOR THE WIN!
